Overseas employment: The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Sajid Hussain Turi, has announced that the Pakistani government plans to send approximately one million skilled citizens abroad for employment by August 2023. The Minister made this declaration while touring the facilities at the Bacha Khan International Airport, including the facilitation desk for the Overseas Pakistani Foundation.
According to Turi, several countries including South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Romania, Portugal, and Malta have expressed their interest in hiring Pakistani manpower. By August 2023, one million skilled professionals and young people from Pakistan would be able to find employment thanks to Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) that are being signed with these nations. The Minister also revealed that since April 2021, six hundred thousand Pakistanis were sent abroad for employment.

The government is committed to providing relief to overseas Pakistanis and has set up a one-window OPF facilitation desk at the Bacha Khan airport, which includes representatives from 13 departments. The goal of this desk is to offer the greatest assistance and respond to concerns from Pakistanis living abroad as soon as possible. Turi stated that the interior and anti-narcotics ministries will be contacted about introducing a cooperative screening mechanism at airports to better assist Pakistanis living abroad.

It is important to note that there is no need to resort to illegal means, such as “dunki,” to cross borders and go to other countries. The Pakistani government is now offering legal channels to support migration, and it is a much better idea to take advantage of these opportunities. Illegal migration can result in a lack of job security, low hourly wage rates, exploitation by employers, and fear of getting caught at any time and send back to the home country.
On the other hand, moving to a foreign country legally offers numerous benefits such as higher wages, job security, better living standards, and access to better healthcare and education. Furthermore, legal migrants have the freedom to travel within the country and can bring their families along, which can help create a better future for their loved ones.
In conclusion, the Pakistani government’s initiative to send one million skilled citizens abroad for employment is excellent news. This will not only provide employment opportunities for the citizens but also benefit the country’s economy. It is crucial to take advantage of legal channels and not resort to illegal means of migration.
