Pakistan Launches School on Wheels Project to Increase Literacy Rate in Rural Areas - Good News Pakistan

The Pakistani government launched the “School on Wheels” project to provide education to children who are unable to attend traditional schools. The initiative was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who expressed hopes that the program would increase the country’s literacy rate, particularly in rural areas.

The “School on Wheels” project aims to offer equal educational opportunities to children in rural areas who lack access to modern educational facilities. The program consists of eight bright-colored buses decorated with balloons and painted windows displaying alphabets and cartoons. The inside of the mobile classrooms is clean and brightly decorated with images of alphabets, numbers, days of the week, and pictures of fruit and animals. Primary-level education, a free library, and meals will be provided by 8 mobile classrooms.

During the inauguration, PM Sharif interacted with the school children and urged them to utilize mobile libraries to promote a reading culture among children. The Education Minister, Rana Tanveer Hussain, briefed the prime minister on various features of the project, stating that each bus is equipped with whiteboards, LCDs, desks, and computers. Additionally, the project would provide meals to the students enrolled in mobile classrooms, fostering a culture of reading and nourishment.

The “School on Wheels” project is an attempt to bring education to the doorstep of underprivileged children to give them a chance to learn. The government plans to expand the project to the rest of the country. Similar mobile school projects have been introduced in Pakistan by public and private organizations.

The “School on Wheels” initiative aims to provide equal educational opportunities to all children, regardless of their socio-economic background. The government’s efforts to increase literacy rates in the country through innovative projects like these should be applauded and encouraged.
