US Launches Scholarships for KP Students: The United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, recently visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province from February 28 to March 2. To solidify the partnership between the United States and the people of KP in various fields, including economic growth, education, security, and cultural preservation. This visit is a crucial step towards strengthening the ties between the United States and Pakistan.
One of the key areas of focus during the Ambassador’s visit was to bolster the economic partnership between the United States and KP. The ambassador and KP Planning and Development Secretary Shah Mahmood Khan launched a new $24 million project as part of this endeavor. The project aims to develop and modernize the agriculture industry and small and medium-sized enterprises in KP(US Launches Scholarships for KP Students).

Record-breaking Month for Tourism in KPK with Over 890,000 Visitors!
The education sector was another focus of the Ambassador’s visit. During his trip, he visited the Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan to inaugurate a new English Works! program. With the help of this initiative, 215 KP students will get financial aid to attend a six-month course in Mardan or Charsadda that will help them gain English language fluency and other skills they need to succeed in the workplace. More than 3,500 students and instructors in the province have benefited from more than $3 million in US funding for English language instruction since 2019.
He also visited a reestablished secondary school in Akbarpura that was devastated in the 2010 floods. The school was rebuilt with U.S. funding of $1.5 million, and it now has more than 50 teachers and more than 1,100 students enrolled. The Ambassador also went to a government-run elementary school for girls where a program supported by the United States is encouraging more Afghan refugee and Pakistani host community girls to enroll in school. In Fiscal Year 2022, the U.S. government will provide nearly $60 million in aid to Pakistani host communities and refugees.

2 Million People Will Get Free Healthcare From KP Government
In addition to the above initiatives, the Ambassador inaugurated the construction of eight U.S.-funded new joint check posts in the Newly Merged Districts and visited the historic Fort Bala Hisar to meet the Frontier Corps KP-North Major General. He also met with the new IG of the KPK Police, to discuss U.S. support for the KPK police and their facilities. The Ambassador thanked him for his service and acknowledged the bravery of the KP police while expressing his condolences to the officers and residents who lost their lives in the Peshawar Mosque incident on January 30.
The Ambassador finished his trip with several cultural experiences, which included a trip to Peshawar’s famous Mahabat Khan Mosque. The lower walls of the mosque’s Mughal-era decorations were restored with more than $14,000 in funding from the United States between 2002 and 2003. He also dined on regional fare while meeting Shah Jee, a food and culture aficionado, at a restaurant. The events for Women’s History Month will be held throughout March, and the Ambassador hosted a group of exchange alumni to a movie screening at the Embassy to get things started.
