Pakistan’s business community has earned fresh recognition on the regional stage: Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has been selected for the prestigious 9th Asia-Pacific Young Entrepreneur Award 2026.

The award, conferred by the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), will be presented to Sheikh at the 40th CACCI Conference in Manila, Philippines, on November 5, according to Pakistan Business News. The AZB and Energy Update carried the same announcement, with coverage appearing on September 30 and October 1.

What is the Asia-Pacific Young Entrepreneur Award?

The Asia-Pacific Young Entrepreneur Award is a flagship program of CACCI, administered through its Young Entrepreneurs Group–Asia Pacific (YEGAP), a network that connects young business leaders across the region. Presented every two years alongside the CACCI Conference, it recognizes exceptional young entrepreneurs from CACCI’s member countries. According to CACCI’s official award documents, winners are assessed on four weighted criteria: business acumen (40 percent), involvement in nonprofit business organizations and CACCI activities (25 percent), leadership qualities (20 percent), and integrity (15 percent).

Now in its ninth edition, the award has become a recognized marker of emerging business leadership in the region, with honorees drawn from CACCI’s member chambers across Asia-Pacific.

Atif Ikram Sheikh: a career built for the regional stage

Sheikh’s path to the award began at home. He was nominated by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) among the country’s most active chambers, and the nomination was endorsed by FPCCI itself, the apex trade body representing chambers and trade associations across Pakistan. That endorsement reflects the high regard in which Pakistan’s own business community holds his leadership, built over a 25-year career in trade and industry that began in 2000.

He is no stranger to the CACCI stage, where he currently serves as Vice President. Beyond leading FPCCI, Sheikh serves as President of ECO-CCI, Vice President of SAARC-CCI, and Deputy Chairman of the SCO Business Council — a rare combination of regional leadership roles held by one individual, spanning South Asia, Central Asia and wider Asia-Pacific economic cooperation forums.

In business, he chairs the Mujahid Group of Industries, with interests spanning oil, ghee, construction, real estate and steel. His chamber journey includes serving as President of ICCI and the Haripur Chamber and chairing the Pakistan Vanaspati Ghee Manufacturers Association. Along the way, he has received awards from Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister.

Why the Atif Ikram Sheikh award matters for Pakistan

For Pakistan, the honor carries weight beyond one individual. It places a Pakistani business leader on one of the Asia-Pacific’s most visible entrepreneurial platforms at a moment when the country’s private sector is pushing for deeper regional economic integration. Recognition from a body as broad as CACCI signals that Pakistani enterprise is being noticed well beyond its borders.

The timing is significant. With Pakistan working to expand trade ties across Asia, having its apex chamber leader honored on a regional stage strengthens the country’s commercial voice. When chamber leaders from across the region gather at Manila’s Hotel Okada on November 4–5, Pakistan’s flag-bearer will be taking home one of the event’s top honors, a proud moment for the country’s business community and a signal of its growing stature abroad.

For Pakistan’s private sector, the recognition also carries a practical message: the country’s entrepreneurs are increasingly plugged into regional networks where deals, partnerships and ideas cross borders, putting Pakistani business names in front of the very audiences investors, chambers and policymakers that shape trade across Asia-Pacific.
