Pakistan’s PUBG Mobile squad has delivered a historic Pakistan esports bronze at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, finishing third in the 12-match competition at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname on Tuesday, September 29. The five-man team of Mohammad Huzaifa, Shayan Asad, Falak Sher, Hasnain Rehman and Syed Sameer collected 100 points across two days of play, behind gold medallists Thailand (128) and silver medallists China (114), in what marks the country’s first ever podium finish in esports at the Games.

A Day-Two Comeback Seals the Pakistan esports bronze

The medal looked a long way off after the opening day, when Pakistan managed just 39 points from the first six matches. But the squad roared back on day two, piling up 61 points in the remaining six games, the highest second-day total among the top five teams. Their best outing came in the seventh match with 16 points, followed by 12 in each of the last two games and 10 each in the eighth and ninth.

In the 12th and final match, Pakistan added 12 more points (four for placement and eight for eliminations) to hold off the chasing pack and lock in the Pakistan esports bronze. Japan won that final match with 18 points while Thailand finished second with 14, but neither result threatened Pakistan’s grip on third place overall. Thailand were eventually rewarded for their consistency across both days, while China survived Pakistan’s late outburst to hold on to the silver medal.

How the Final Standings Shook Out

Twelve national teams contested the event over two days on the Erangel and Miramar maps, with final placings decided by combined placement and elimination points. The final top seven:

  1. Thailand, 128 points (gold)
  2. China, 114 points (silver)
  3. Pakistan, 100 points (bronze)
  4. Vietnam, 95 points
  5. Indonesia, 95 points
  6. South Korea, 71 points
  7. Chinese Taipei, 62 points

Thailand’s consistency across both days earned them the gold medal, 14 clear of China, whose late surge held off Pakistan’s charge for silver. Behind the top three, Vietnam and Indonesia finished tied on 95 points each in fourth and fifth, five points adrift of Pakistan. PUBG Mobile is being contested as an official Asian Games medal event for only the second time, following its debut at Hangzhou, and full results were reported by The News.

Pakistan’s Fifth Medal of the Aichi-Nagoya Games

The Pakistan esports bronze was Pakistan’s fifth medal of the Games at the time. National fighter Asim Khan had earlier claimed bronze in modern MMA, while Noor Zaman and Mohammad Ashab Irfan each won bronze in the men’s singles squash, and the women’s cricket team took bronze with a 31-run victory over Bangladesh in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Pakistan’s medal run across the two weeks gave the contingent plenty to celebrate in Japan. Why This Pakistan esports bronze Is Historic

This is the first time Pakistan has reached the podium in esports at a major multi-sport event. Competitive gaming has grown rapidly among the country’s young people, but the professional structure around it, from organised leagues to dedicated training facilities, is still being built. A podium finish against the region’s established esports powers shows what Pakistani talent can achieve when it gets a proper stage, and the Pakistan esports bronze has been widely described as a breakthrough moment for competitive gaming in the country.

What the Medal Means for Pakistan’s Gamers

For Pakistan’s gaming community, the medal is more than a line on the Asian Games table. The PUBG Mobile squad’s run, from a poor opening day to a historic podium, is the kind of story that attracts sponsors, encourages parents to take competitive gaming seriously, and strengthens the case for greater institutional support and infrastructure for esports at home.

The five players return home as national heroes. With the Pakistan esports bronze, the country has shown its sporting future is not limited to traditional fields. Their achievement sits alongside a wider technology story in Pakistan, from university research such as Punjab University’s new human-centered AI lab to a new generation competing, and winning, on the world’s biggest sporting stages.
