Pakistan will host Canada for the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 in Islamabad from February 8 to 21, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has confirmed, in a step that brings international hockey back to home soil.

The announcement, carried by The Express Tribune and Pakistan Observer on October 17, gives the long discussed tour a firm window and a host city. Canada will send its national team and officials to Pakistan for the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027, with the PHF saying exemplary arrangements will be made for the visiting delegation.

For Pakistan hockey, the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 is about more than a fortnight of matches. It is a visible sign that foreign teams are willing to travel to Pakistan again, and a chance for the national side to play international opposition in front of home crowds.

What the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 Will Look Like

According to the PHF, the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 will run from February 8 to 21, 2027, in Islamabad. The federation has not yet announced a match by match schedule, the number of games, or a venue, and those details are expected closer to the tour.

What is confirmed is the shape of the visit. Canada will tour with its national team and officials, and the PHF will work with the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and relevant federal authorities to arrange accommodation, transport, sports facilities and security for the Canadian delegation.

The PHF welcomed the proposed tour as an opportunity to promote international hockey in Pakistan and strengthen sporting ties between the two countries.

PHF president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani described the Canadian visit as a significant step towards reviving international hockey in Pakistan, and said the federation would continue working to bring more international competition to the country.

From In-Principle Agreement to Confirmed Dates

The Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 did not appear out of nowhere. In August 2026, the PHF announced that Canada had agreed in principle to tour Pakistan, with the visit then expected in January or February and the final dates still to be settled through mutual consultation between the two federations.

At that stage, the Canadian federation had expressed interest in Pakistan’s hosting capabilities and rich hockey traditions, according to the PHF. The October announcement turns that in-principle understanding into a dated fixture on the calendar, which is the part that matters for planning, preparation and promotion.

The PHF has also said it is in talks with three other countries about tours of Pakistan, as part of a broader push to restore a regular international hockey calendar at home.

Why Hosting Matters for Pakistan Hockey

Pakistan is one of the most successful nations in field hockey history, with three Olympic gold medals in 1960, 1968 and 1984, and a record four Hockey World Cup titles in 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. The sport has deep roots in the country, and hockey remains close to the hearts of fans who grew up watching the national team compete at the very top.

But in recent years, Pakistan have had to rebuild. The PHF has spoken openly about restoring the country’s presence on the international hockey calendar, attracting foreign teams, and encouraging greater participation among young players. Home series like the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 are a direct way to do all three at once.

For the players, the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 means international experience without travel, and a chance to test themselves against different opposition in familiar conditions. For young fans, it means watching the national team live, which is how the next generation of players first falls in love with the sport.

The federation has linked the Canada series to a wider development strategy covering under-18, under-21, senior men’s and women’s teams, with a focus on expanding international exposure, improving coaching, strengthening training facilities, and improving financial incentives and support systems for players.

A Busy Road Ahead for Pakistan Hockey

The Canada tour sits inside a busy stretch for Pakistan hockey. The PHF has accepted an invitation to compete in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia in November 2026, giving the senior national team match experience against international opponents. Pakistan’s under-21 side has also been competing in Malaysia in the Sultan of Johor Cup, testing emerging players against international opposition.

Reports have also pointed to a China tour of Pakistan in November, followed by the Canada visit, with three European teams expressing readiness to travel as well. Separately, the Pakistan Hockey League is set to roll out in early 2027, adding a domestic showcase to the international calendar.

Readers can follow the domestic side of this revival in our coverage of the Pakistan Hockey League launch, and the recent Pakistan hockey bronze medal win over Korea. The growth of youth sport is also visible in the National Junior Squash Championship, where four young champions were crowned in Lahore.

For now, the message from the PHF is simple. International hockey is coming back to Pakistan, and the Pakistan Canada Hockey Series 2027 is the next step. The dates are set, the city is set, and the countdown to February has begun.
