Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) export remittances reached $435 million in September 2026, the second-highest monthly figure on record, as the country’s digital economy continued its rapid climb. The Pakistan IT exports September 2026 data, released by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), showed an 18.21 percent increase over the same month last year and a 10.41 percent rise from August.

For the Pakistan IT exports September 2026 figure to land just $2 million short of the all-time record of $437 million set in December 2025 underlines how firmly the sector is now operating near its peak. In a post on X, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad confirmed the record comparison, noting that September’s performance marks the second-best month ever for the country’s technology exports.

Pakistan IT Exports September 2026: The Numbers Behind the Record

The monthly trend tells the story of steady acceleration. After August 2026 delivered $394 million, September’s $435 million represented a solid 10.4 percent month-on-month gain. A year earlier, in September 2025, IT exports stood at $368 million, so the industry has added nearly $67 million in monthly receipts within twelve months, according to State Bank of Pakistan data reported by TechJuice.

Pakistan’s information technology and tech exports rose 18 percent year on year to 435 million U.S. dollars in September 2026, marking the second-highest monthly figure on record. (Xinhua)

The Pakistan IT exports September 2026 report also highlighted how the sector’s growth is broadening Pakistan’s export base. IT and telecom services now account for nearly 46 percent of the country’s total services exports, making technology the single largest contributor to services receipts and a crucial source of foreign exchange.

Freelancers Post a Record $197 Million Month

Alongside the headline number, the Pakistan IT exports September 2026 data carried another record: income from IT-related freelance services climbed to $197 million in September, the highest monthly figure ever recorded. That is 49 percent more than the same month last year and 11 percent more than August, according to Xinhua.

The freelance surge fits a longer pattern. Freelancer remittances reached $1.76 billion in FY26, up 78 percent from $984 million the previous year, with IT freelancers contributing more than $1.16 billion of that total, TechJuice has reported. Pakistan’s army of independent developers, designers, and consultants has become one of the most dynamic engines of the digital economy, a theme explored in our look at the best countries to hire freelancers in 2026.

A Quarter of Strength: $1.246 Billion in Q1 FY27

Zooming out from the Pakistan IT exports September 2026 monthly figure, the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 was equally strong. The State Bank of Pakistan reported $1.246 billion in telecommunications, computer, and information services exports during July-September, up 17.7 percent from $1.059 billion in the same period last year.

The quarter also generated a trade surplus of $1.04 billion for the ICT sector, up 14.98 percent year-on-year, underscoring how technology exports are strengthening Pakistan’s external position. Total services exports for the quarter rose to $2.719 billion, a 22.8 percent increase, with IT and telecom remaining the largest contributor by far.

What Is Powering the Growth

What the Pakistan IT exports September 2026 numbers confirm is a sector benefiting from expanding global demand and better access to international markets. PSEB said the growth reflects the expanding global presence of Pakistani technology companies and the government’s efforts to strengthen the digital economy, with the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication working to improve the sector’s access to overseas clients.

The momentum also connects to Pakistan’s broader technology push, from the Pakistan-US Tech Connect 2026 initiative taking local firms to Silicon Valley to growing recognition for the country’s digital achievements, such as the NBP sustainable infrastructure award for technology-driven finance. With the annual run rate now approaching the provisional $4.60 billion recorded in FY26, up from $3.812 billion the year before, the industry is firmly on course for another record year.
