Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), through its brand Ufone 5G, has picked up two honours at the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 awards, including a Gold Dragon for its Super 5 campaign and a Black Dragon for its Babar Azam’s Lost Phone campaign. The double win puts a Pakistani telecom brand on the winners list of one of the region’s best known marketing awards programmes.
The result was reported from the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 awards by TechJuice on October 17, 2026, and separately carried by Bloom Pakistan the same day. Both outlets report the same two wins: a Gold Dragon in the Best in Media category for Super 5, and a Black Dragon in the Marketing Discipline category for Babar Azam’s Lost Phone.
Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026: The Two Winning Campaigns
The Gold-winning Super 5 campaign was built around Ufone’s Super 5 package, which lets customers share data, calls and SMS with four friends or family members. Launched in February 2026, the campaign opened with teaser videos on social media in which cricketing legends hinted at a mysterious “selection”, prompting speculation about a possible return to the game.
The reveal turned the premise on its head. The players were not competing for a place in a cricket team. They were competing for a place in comedian and television host Tabish Hashmi’s own Super 5 group. The campaign brought together Hashmi with Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq and Saeed Ajmal, all members of Pakistan’s 2009 ICC T20 World Cup winning squad. It ran across Pakistani television channels and digital platforms and attracted millions of views online.
The Black Dragon winner, Babar Azam’s Lost Phone, promoted Ufone’s Weekly Grand Offer. Launched in February 2025, it began with cricketer Babar Azam announcing on social media that he had lost his phone and contacts. The reveal showed this to be part of a Ufone campaign, with Babar searching for his phone alongside fans before presenting the offer. TechJuice reports the campaign passed 10 million views and became a fan favourite.
“We wanted our campaigns to be something people would talk about, not just watch,” said Syed Atif Raza, Chief Commercial Officer at PTML, commenting on the achievement.
Raza added that it was encouraging to see locally developed ideas earn international recognition, and credited the Brands and Media teams and agency partners for the work.
What the Dragons of Asia Awards Recognise
The Dragons of Asia Awards, where the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 wins were earned, recognise excellence in results-driven marketing communications across the region. The programme celebrates campaigns that combine strategic insight, creative thinking and effective execution. Entries are judged on the results they deliver, not on production polish alone, which is why the awards carry weight with marketing teams across Asia.
Ufone’s two wins at the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 cover two different kinds of work. The Super 5 campaign won in a media category, recognising how the campaign reached and engaged its audience. Babar Azam’s Lost Phone won in a marketing discipline category, recognising the campaign idea and its execution around a product offer.
A Strong Showing for Pakistani Telecom
Ufone was not the only Pakistani telecom operator to win at the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 awards. Zong also won five awards at the Dragons of Asia 2026, including two Gold Dragons, one Bronze and two Black Dragon Awards, according to Synergyzer, for its 5G Launch and Aisa Hai Future campaigns and other work. Zong has a record of regional award wins, including a historic double at the Asian Experience Awards. PTCL also earned honours at the same awards, with its Dil Se Ba-Ikhtiar initiative winning a Bronze Dragon in the Best in Digital category and its Mother’s Day campaign receiving a Black Dragon in Marketing Discipline, according to Bloom Pakistan.
Some early coverage described Ufone as the only telecom brand from Pakistan to win a Gold at the awards. That description does not hold, since Zong also won Gold Dragons at the same awards. This article reports the wins as they are, without the exclusivity claim.
Taken together, the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 results show Pakistani telecom brands competing credibly at regional level, with three operators or group companies taking home Dragons in the same year.
The National Win That Came First
The Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 recognition follows a strong showing at the national awards a few weeks earlier. At the Dragons of Pakistan 2026, held in September, Ufone and Telenor Pakistan together secured nine awards, comprising two Gold, two Silver and five Black Dragons, according to Lead Pakistan.
Ufone accounted for five of those nine. Its Babar Azam’s Lost Phone campaign won Gold Dragons in both Marketing Discipline and Public Relations, plus a Black Dragon in Media. Super 5 took a Silver Dragon in Media, and the 5G Launch campaign took a Silver Dragon in Digital. Telenor Pakistan added four Black Dragons.
The national results matter because they show the Asia wins were not a one-off. The same campaigns had already been recognised at home before going on to win at regional level. Ufone is not the only Pakistani organisation collecting awards this year: Khushhali Microfinance Bank won two PMN awards after a major financial turnaround.
Why the Wins Matter
For Ufone, the Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 awards are recognition of a particular approach: building campaigns around a clear consumer insight, then telling the story with humour and local cultural references. Super 5 worked because sharing a bundle with friends and family is a familiar everyday habit. Babar Azam’s Lost Phone worked because it started with a believable human moment, a lost phone, and let the audience discover the campaign for themselves.
For Pakistan’s telecom sector, the wins show local creative work standing up against regional competition. Campaigns made in Pakistan, featuring Pakistani stars and speaking to Pakistani audiences, earned recognition on an Asian stage. That is a useful signal for a market where marketing budgets are often spent on imported ideas. The broader business picture is encouraging too, with NBP winning a sustainable infrastructure award at the ABF Awards 2026.
The Ufone Dragons of Asia 2026 result also continues a run of award recognition for the PTCL Group. In 2025, the group’s Dil Se clean water initiative won Gold at both the Dragons of Pakistan and Dragons of Asia awards. The 2026 wins extend that record from social impact work into mainstream product marketing.
